Michelle Yeoh, a prominent actress on the big screen since the 1990s, knows a thing or two about red carpets. As she gears up for the BAFTAs, where she is a nominee for Best Actress for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once, Yeoh tells Vogue that masks are her ultimate essential for awards season prep. Despite being a veteran on the red carpet, this year’s series of ceremonies is particularly significant for Yeoh, who has finally received the mainstream recognition she deserves thanks to Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s Everything Everywhere All At Once. Yeoh is also in the running for the Best Actress Oscar, and if successful, she will become the first Asian actress to win the award in the Academy Awards’ 95-year history.
As Yeoh celebrates her 60th year in the spotlight, she has already worn a range of outfits, from sculptural Schiaparelli to Armani Privé sequins and even a lilac Off-White shorts suit during the ongoing awards season. Yeoh describes dressing up and trying different looks as fun and fabulous and says that it’s a way to celebrate with family and fans who have been supportive.
For the BAFTA ceremony, Yeoh turned to Dior and the “brilliance” of creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. She wore a caped blush-pink suit that embodied “English chic” and made her feel stylish and fun.
